As a young girl, I would often visit at my Grandmother's house. She had a beautiful picture of a garden gate with Jesus at the door, knocking hanging by her bed. I remember asking my grandma “What is Jesus doing?” “He is knocking at your heart's door!” she gently explained.

Recently I was working at the office at a different desk location. It had a huge receptionist window and naturally there were hand marks on it. We have a great cleaning team from a women’s home that cleans the office areas at the end of the each week. That morning I watched as the woman sprayed and wiped several times the glass in front of the desk. Finally after careful examination she stated, “Its inside, you’ll have to get it.” I smiled and agreed and she went on her way.

All week long the Holy Spirit has used that phase to teach me truth about this world we live in and the reality of sin. Many times I think that I have to be very watchful of the outside world and it's influences. This is a principal that I hold fast too but the real truth is what I let into my life. You know, the inside stuff that I allow to cause smudges on my character or attitude. The 'allowed sin' that will eventually cause pain and spiritual death.
God’s word spoke to me in Matt 7:7 “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, ask and the door will be open…”

Jesus is tapping on our heart's door today...
“Will you open the door?” “Will you allow Him to get that smudge?”

“Yes, Lord, the door is unlocked and open!!!”

Come in, Lord Jesus, and clean my smudges.

Your experience reminds me of my hand mirror that I use at my bathroom counter where I apply my greatly needed and appreciated anti-aging skin care and makeup products. I also use it to see the back of my beautiful wavy locks, in hand with my large mirror. Can't you just picture it? But, that little mirror had so many finger prints, hair spray over-spray and general grime I couldn't see anything but blurs, and I even had my reading glasses on.

The Lord reminded me that His word is like a mirror where I see my reflection, checking to see if we have any dirt smudges on my face or food in my teeth. I cleaned my little hand held mirror and realized that I needed to continue to check His mirror, allow him to show me any smudges and be willing to let him clean me up.

I love the Lord, how he takes such good care of us!!!
