Take the Challenge

Have you ever had someone tell you not to be afraid? Can you remember a situation where fear prevented you from trying something new?
When a challenging or fearful situation comes along I usually have to stop everything and regroup, allowing my mind to take over and not my emotions to run wild.

The truth is that just because there are assurances by others, the ability to remain in a functioning level can be very challenging.
That is the word- “challenging.” I have to admit, I love a reasonable challenge. The chance to try something and win or lose, just to be able to try, can bring great joy. (Bungee jumping, sky cabin rides, sky diving… not on my list.) A sense of knowledge and hope about the future is usually a requirement for me to carry on but when those things don’t happen – God’s Word is more than enough.
In the book, "God will Make a Way" Dr. Henry Cloud said after his fearful jump on a sky diving experience;
"Just telling someone "Don't be afraid, you'll be fine," does not make the fear go away. Until the reasons for fear are addressed, it will remain."
Fear is unavoidable. We will all have to deal with it, but thankfully God knows more than people. He knows why you fear, and how to get rid of it. Better yet, he knows the future as well.”

Matthew 10:31 He encourages us: "Do not fear!"

Thankfully God does not just say “do not fear!” He is there to walk along side us during the unsettling times. When our world is out of control it is important to remember He is in control!

I appreciated Beth Moore's comment that Jesus said, "Take courage. I'm giving it to you, take it. I am not telling to be courageous but to take courage." We don't always have what it takes to muster up bravery but Jesus does and he has it available to us!!! Thanks friend for speaking truth.

Habakkuk 3:19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!

Here's the other thought:

John 16:33 (Amplified Bible)

"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]"

God deprived the world of power to harm us and he has conquered it for us. The world has no power, only God has the authority, the ultimate one in charge.

"In ME," Jesus said!
